Commonhood – Turning Toward Each Other

Commonhood: Turning towards each other is a public intervention and neighbourhood gathering for housing, solidarity, and collective care, bringing people together through art, music, food and collective learning. 

As housing becomes increasingly shaped by profit and speculation, we want to make space to come together, share knowledge, build connections, and ask how we can resist the violence of capitalism collectively.

The concept is curated and organised by Vjolla Emiri in collaboration with artist collective Taring Padi, Leieboerforeningen (The Tenants Association of Norway), Reduser Husleia, Masahat and Atelier Kunstnerforbund. 

Programme (12:00 – 15:00)

• ⁠Art build & teach-in with Taring Padi, Leieboerforeningen and Vjolla Emiri – together we’ll explore housing as collective care while engaging in creating a 5m banner with spray cans and paint.
• Bestest DJMachal will play resistance music throughout the day. (bring your old CD’s!)
• ⁠⁠Pop-up activist-library with Rosa Bøker, Átomo Omreisende Fanzinotek and Masahat’s På feil sted zines
• ⁠⁠Indonesian-inspired finger food from KAIO, with “Fellesskapsovnen” av kunstner Karsten B. Ekhougen Larsen.
• ⁠⁠Wrapping up at 15:00, then marching to LO Folkets Hjørne for Jonas Bals’ keynote on how immigrants helped build modern Norway
