Commonhood – Turning Toward Each Other
Vjolla Emiri returns as guest curator for this year’s programming, following their 2025 street festival. Commonhood – Turning Towards Each Other invites the public to examine how grassroots publishing documents resistance, while welcoming the public to engage with art and activism merging to defend the right to home.
Join a collective banner-making artbuild on September 19th at 11:00, held together with Taring Padi, Leieboerforeningen (The Tenants’ Association of Norway), Reduser Husleia and Vjolla Emiri.
In teach-in style, the 4h session explores what it means to hold housing as collective care, and what it takes to build and defend homes and neighbourhoods where people are safe, cared for and able to stay.
A pop-up activist library, hosted by Rosa Bøker, Atomo Fanzinotek, and Masahat/Atelier Kunstnerforbundet, offers radical literature to browse throughout the day, alongside some soup.
DJ Machal will be spinning resistance music from the Global South throughout the day.
We will wrap up at 15:00 and march to Youngstorget/Folkets Hjørne where Jonas Bals will be holding the keynote “Workers of all countries, unite! But how? The story of how immigrants built modern Norway and one of the world’s strongest trade union movements”
