Ghawgha
Ghawgha is an independent singer, composer, and songwriter from Afghanistan whose music moves between Persian poetic traditions, contemporary sound worlds, and personal storytelling. Her debut album, Qaf, marked a bold and personal arrival; musically, poetically, and emotionally.
In her work, listening becomes a way of being, remembering, and staying human. Long, sustained vocal lines, sudden delicate ornaments, and raw melodic force carry traces of longing, movement, and return.
Her songs hold a particular sensitivity to marginalised voices, and to what is lost when tenderness disappears from the world. “Meboosamat (Kiss You)” remains one of her most recognised works. In 2021, she was named one of the BBC’s 100 Women, and her work has been presented internationally, including at UNESCO and the Nobel Peace Centre.
