Sumayo Jirde Cali

Sumayo Jirde Cali (b. 1997) is a Norwegian-Somali poet, writer, and cultural critic. She debuted with Kvinner som hater menn in 2017, followed by Melanin hvitere enn blekemiddel, Ikkje ver redd sånne som meg, and Når jeg ser havet, slokner lyset.

She is the recipient of several awards including:
– The Oslo Prize for “Voice of the Year”
– The Zola Prize
– The Amalie Skram Prize
– The Freedom of Expression Prize from the Norwegian Authors’ Union
– Årets Bodøværing (Citizen of the Year in Bodø)
