This meeting of the Al-Ard Book Club invited participants to read and discuss the novel Where the Wind Calls Home by the Syrian author Samar Yazbek (2024). The original Arabic title is Maqām al-Rīḥ, published in 2021.
The invitation was open to everyone interested in literature, environment, and everyday approaches to the land. The meeting took the form of a guided and relaxed discussion focused on passages of the book that resonated with participants.

Al-Ard Book Club brings together readers from different backgrounds to read, share, and discuss works of Arabic literature that explore the intersections of environmental disruption, memory, displacement, and care for the land. The club is organised by the al-ARD research group at the Department of Culture, Religion, Asian and Middle Eastern Studies (IKOS), University of Oslo, which researches environmental care in the Middle East region.
