This meeting of the Al-Ard Book Club invites participants to read and discuss The Drowning by the Sudanese author Hammour Ziada (2018).

When the body of a young girl is found in the Nile, the event reverberates through a Sudanese town haunted by memory and loss. Through a constellation of characters, Ziada reveals the tensions and hidden violence beneath everyday life.
