The first meeting of the Al-Ard Book Club invited participants to read and discuss excerpts from Abdel Rahman Munif’s novel Cities of Salt (Mudun al-Milḥ, 1984).

The invitation was open to everyone interested in literature, environment, and the Middle East region. The discussion was based mainly on the English version (chapters 1–10, pp. 1–100), with Arabic editions and other translations also welcome.

The meeting took the form of a guided and relaxed discussion focused on passages that resonated with participants.
