Masahat for Arab Culture in Exile is looking for an enthusiastic and self-driven Communications Coordinator to lead the communications and media outreach around Masahat festival for Arab Arts and Culture taking place 18-22 September in Oslo.
We are a small, dynamic and passionate team working to make Masahat Festival a landmark in the cultural scene of Norway and the Arab diaspora. And for that to be achieved, we need to welcome a communications guru to join our growing festival squad!
Job description
- Communications strategy: Create and implement a communications strategy for Masahat festival (18-22 September) with the purpose of driving tickets sales and increasing Masahat visibility towards its followers, media, donors, politicians and partners
- Social Media Management: Develop and execute social media strategies including tailored social media ads
- Content production: Lead the planning and producing of creative content featuring the events, guests and themes of Masahat festival. Content includes: social media posts, short videos (reels), newsletters, simple designs using Canva platform (or other design programs).
- Dissemination: Manage scheduling and publication in Masahat different platforms: Social Media, newsletter and website
- Media outreach & contact: Work closely with Masahat team to expand a network of relevant journalists, sending press releases, pitches, and serving as main point of contact to respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews with guests and other coverage, and maintain a professional relationship with journalists
Qualifications
- Relevant degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in a communications or public relations role, preferably within the arts and culture sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Norwegian and English.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing and social media platforms.
Other desired qualifications
- Familiarity with Norwegian cultural politics and media outlets, preferably with an existing network amongst journalists and outlets relevant to Masahat festival
- Knowledge of and interest in politics and culture from the Middle East and the Arab world.
- Experience in using Canva (or other design programs) and MailChimp
- Arabic language is a plus.

- Able to manage multiple threads simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- Structured, creative thinker who is good at taking initiatives and working independently while at the same time function as a team player and able to handle constructive feedback
- Able to build and sustain relationships with diverse stakeholders
Key information
- Start date: as soon as possible
- Engagement: temporary engagement until 30 September, with a possibility of extension.
- Capacity: preferably 100%, but can also accommodate other part-time availability
- Flexible working hours, can combine home office, with an office space in modern and comfortable building in Sentralen, Oslo
