خالد فهمي هو بروفيسور شمال إفريقيا والشرق الأوسط في قسم التاريخ في جامعة تافتس. فهمي مؤرخ للشرق الأوسط الحديث مع التركيز بشكل خاص على مصر في القرن التاسع عشر. تتناول كتبه ومقالاته تاريخ الجيش المصري في النصف الأول من القرن التاسع عشر، وتاريخ الطب والقانون والتخطيط العمراني في مصر في القرنين التاسع عشر والعشرين.بالإضافة إلى منشوراته الأكاديمية التي ظهرت باللغتين الإنجليزية والعربية، فهو نشيط أيضًا على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي بالإضافة إلى مدونته المتوافرة باللغتين الانكليزية والعربية: www.khaledfahmy.org. على مدى السنوات القليلة الماضية، كان فهمي يستخدم منصاته على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي لتبادل الأفكار حول مشروعه الأكاديمي الجديد: تاريخ عسكري واجتماعي وثقافي للصراع العربي الإسرائيلي عام 1967. يمكن مشاهدة مقاطع الفيديو المكونة من 12 جزءاً عن الحرب هنا (باللغة العربية).We are excited to announce that Egyptian historian and scholar Khaled Fahmy is the keynote speaker of Masahat-festival for arabisk kunst og kultur 2023! Fahmy will give a talk on 22 September at 19:00 in the evening at Deichman Bjørvika. More details coming next week! Khaled Fahmy is the Edward Keller Professor of North Africa and the Middle East at Tufts University. He is a historian of the modern Middle East with special emphasis on nineteenth century Egypt. His books and articles deal with the history of the Egyptian army in the first half of the nineteenth century, and the history of medicine, law and urban planning in 19th- and 20th-century Egypt.In addition to his academic publications which have appeared in both English and Arabic, he is also active on regular and social media as well as his own bi-lingual blog: www.khaledfahmy.org. Over the past few years, he has been using his social media platforms to share ideas about his new academic project: a military, social and cultural history of the 1967 Arab-Israeli conflict.
